Nothing special about this place, I guess it is in a college town so it was busy on a Saturday morning, kitchen must be slow it took more than 30 minutes for a burger and crab cake benedict, the crab cake is soft and mushy not good at all. good strong coffee, the bread is too dense for my taste.

SUCH AN FABULOUS ALTERNATIVE to the "real" Angelo's. It is quick and easy here ! You can seat yourself at their bar stools by the window, at all times ( i believe) this is the best on the wknd when the "real angelo's" gets crowded ! The menu is on the wall which looks super cute, and they have all the great things that the "real angelo's" has too !! Need a quick order of hashbrowns for your hangover - they've got it ! Want a coffee while you're waiting in line for the "real angelos" they've got you!

Sat alone at the bar on a Tuesday at 9:30am. Place was not busy and it took 25 minutes to get my breakfast. Was not impressed with my food or service.

I usually LOVE Angelos, but on our most recent experience we had terrible service and poor food. I always get the french toast, but on this occasion, it was very stale, not soaked long enough and just poor quality. Seems like an easy fix with a fresh batch of french toast made the usual way? Our waitress could tell we had an issue (we picked at that 'hard as a rock french toast' for 10 minutes), but she refused to come back to our table and completely ignored us after dropping off our food (we didn't look angry..yet). She even was sneaky about dropping off the bill. Never once were we asked how the meal was. VERY disappointed. If this was the first time we had been to Angelo's we would never come back. It will be a long time before we come again. There are plenty of wonderful places in A2 to spend my hard earned money and get service that rocks.

It's just like Angelo's, but on the side! Always call ahead. Always. The sausage is good. Good for lunch. Get your sandwiches!

If you know Angelo's then you already know Angelo's on the side. They serve quick coffee and pastries as well as the regular full menu you'd expect at Angelo's. Be sure to give these guy a call if you order to go (like any good place they make to order so 10 mins ahead of time and it will be ready for pick-up when you arrive). As far as the menu goes, my absolute favorite is their rubens. Smoked turkey ruben FTW!! Generous meat portions, delicious use of coleslaw, and sandwiched with buttered toast. There's no going wrong here!! They're usually open 1 hour later than Angelo's and closed in July. Rings true of a family business!

Offers most of Angelo's menu. I come here just for the bread they use for their sandwiches. It is the PERFECT chewiness. Sometimes my jaw gets tired chewing on the crust but I can't help but want to keep on chewing! Don't be afraid to go all in and order their reubens or grilled pastrami. Avoid the grilled chicken sandwich - it's mediocre grilled chicken you can make in your kitchen. The various club sandwiches have all been pretty good. Only downside is they are a bit slow, but it's perfect if you're hanging out with friends - gives you time to catch up! Or try calling ahead. The hot chocolate tastes like it's made of chocolate powder. Wish they were open year-round!

Angelos on the Side is literally next door to the original Angelo's, an Ann Arbor institution. On the weekends, it operates in exactly the same way - there is waitstaff, and the menu is exactly the same. (Though they do not have fountain drinks - Diet Coke addicts, be forewarned!) During the week, it operates more like a take-out joint. You order at the counter, and the food is all packaged to-go (environmentalists be forewarned!). If you want the full restaurant experience, go to the original on the corner. If you want to take out a salad or a sandwich, this is the place to go. Having had breakfast numerous times at both locations, I do think that the kitchen is slightly better at the original location, but when you put your name on the list on the weekend, it's for both spaces. Even on the weekend, the counter is first-come, first-served.

My husband and I came here while visiting a friend. We heard that the deep-fried french toast and crab cakes benedict were amazing so we opted for those. I got the french toast and he got the crab cakes. In the end, it would seem he got the better end of that deal. The deep-fried french toast was alright- crunchy on outside, gooey french toast inside, delicious cool berry topping. Only problem was that it got too soggy too fast. After about 5 minutes, it stopped being deliciously crunchy and just become meh. Maybe a half-order would have been better. The crab cakes, on the other hand, were AMAZING!!! SO FREAKIN' GOOD! Moist inside, crunchy outside, delicious hollandaise sauce- Absolutely superb! I couldn't help but steal bites from my poor husband... Next time, I'm getting my own!!!

Great atmosphere, great food, the best toast in town. Angelos on the Side has great windows, and it perfect to watch falling leaves while chowing down on pumpkin pancakes (w/ whipped cream). Just as the menu says, "perfect for a cool fall day." The real treasure is the toast though. Seriously, my fav. bfast place is the Northside Grill on the other side of town. But Angelos gets a +1 in the bread department. Yum!

Had lunch here twice & breakfast once. 3 for 3 excellent meals & outstanding service. The waitstaff treats you like a long lost relative that they might inherit from. Courteous, helpful and joyful. Quite a delight to be served by people who take pride in their work. The tomato basil soup is served piping hot, with Westminster oyster crackers. The soup is creamy and holds your spoon upright for a couple of seconds. Perfect. Great French toast and wonderful homemade bread. It is a can't miss place for brunch.

Good food. OK service. I can't get over the fact that nearly every time we go they are out of Tabasco sauce....really?

Sorry to be the spoiler, but this place is just average. Pricey, extra large greasy portions served on styrofoam. Small, crowded, noisy. Cold in the winter, hot in the summer. Good for take out, but just go next door if you're not in a hurry and enjoy some real service for the same prices.

Was a long term fan of Angelos- until I went in for lunch w- a colleague a week ago on wednesday. The salad and soups came with generic wheat bread that looks like kroger brand, instead of their usual home-made stuff. The sweet potatoe fries shrank about 75% in size, and my salad (which boasts grilled chicken, a variety of vegetable on top of greens had basically just lettuces and chicken, nothing else. The sauce (vinegar and oil) tasted awful. WHAT HAPPENED??????????

The food is to die for, but you might be waiting a while and have to deal with short hours of operation.

Try Angelo's on the side on weekdays when the main restaurant is packed and you're thinking bleak thoughts of waiting for 30 minutes for some thick-cut bread (Angelo's specialty). The full menu is available here, you order at the counter and pick it up - sadly in styrofoam containers even if you order "for here" - but the food is muy delicious and the service is fast. Highlights: Anything with hollandaise sauce (of course the butter doesn't hurt) Pancakes that have some delicate sweet aroma to them (vanilla?) Fresh Squeezed O.J. Bread The main downside of anything Angelo's is that parking is extremely limited, so you might want to designate a driver and a "wait for your tabler" to optimize the experience.

This is the best place to get coffee in Ann Arbor. Unfortunately it is breakfast and lunch only, so it closes at 4PM or so. You can also order the famous Angelo's deep-fried french toast here.

all the same food as angelo's next door. in the odl days, you used to be able to get around the long lines at angelo's by going here, but that no longer seems to be the case. they now seat people in here as well. i'm not sure it counts as its own place anymore.
